Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan has stated that the new system of twice-a-year board exams for Class X and XII will not be mandatory. The system aims to reduce stress on students who fear missing out on a single opportunity. Pradhan also mentioned the need to address the issue of "dummy schools" where students enroll in their home states and move to Kota for coaching classes without attending full-time schools.
