The father of Liverpool striker Luis Diaz has been released in Colombia after being kidnapped by members of the guerrilla group ELN. The release was announced by the government's delegation currently in peace negotiations with the ELN. Diaz's kidnapping drew international attention, and the younger Diaz appealed for his father's release after scoring in a Premier League soccer match. The ELN initially denied involvement but later acknowledged the kidnapping was a mistake. Diaz's mother was rescued shortly after the abduction, and special forces were deployed to search for his father.
